Paul Wheatley (footballer)
Paul Wheatley (born 12 April 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). A Preston Knights recruit, Wheatley made his debut for the Melbourne Football Club in 2000, after being selected at number 20 in the 1999 AFL Draft. Wheatley is known for his prodigious kicking, with his ability to pinpoint 60 metre passes using the drop punt. He is also known to be able to kick long distance torpedo punts, which led to speculation that he might try out as an American football punter. Paul polled two votes in the 2007 Brownlow Medal, his first votes, and five votes in 2008, a career high. Paul Wheatley (b. Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, 11 October 1921 – d. Porter County, Indiana 30 October 1999) was a geographer who came to specialize in the historical geography of Southeast Asia and East Asia. He was Professor of Geography and History, University of California at Berkeley 1958–1966; Professor of Geography, University College London 1966–1971; Professor of Geography and History, University of Chicago 1971–1977, where he was Irving B. Harris Professor and Chairman of the Committee on Social Thought 1977–1991 (Emeritus). He married Margaret Ashworth in 1957, and the couple had two sons, Julian and Jonathan. Paul Charles Wheatley (born 27 May 1938) is an Anglican priest who was the Archdeacon of Sherborne and Rector of West Stafford in Dorset from 1991 to 2003. Wheatley was educated at Durham University and ordained deacon in 1964 and priest in 1985. Following a curacy in Bishopston he was youth chaplain in the Diocese of Bristol from 1963 to 1968.
